Spring Songwriting Workshop 2017
Spring Songwriting Workshop 31.5-4 June 2017
1 March 2017
people - food and drink - accommodation - activities - bursaries - timing and prices
People This year’s Spring Songwriting Workshop will be limited to 15 participants. There are always sublime songwriters at our workshops, and usually some people with a long way to travel along the continuum towards genius, and this workshop will be no exception. People are the reason we hope to draw you back again and again when (think) you have nothing more to learn (you always do).
Food and Drink Music may be the food of love-songs, but we don’t leave it to chance. Freshly-produced (with your help) food means freshly-produced songs. All meals are included in the price. In addition a pub within 2 minutes’ walk has real ales, music (yours) and great food should you want a blow-out on Saturday night. Back at the centre everyone is expected to clear up after themselves and take a turn preparing food and washing up - expect to spend a good two hours doing this, probably while songwriting.
Accommodation The five rooms sleep up to 36 people - you can sleep in one of two dorms (8/7 occupants in 16/14-bedded rooms) or choose to pay a supplement for a private room, of which there are three (a twin, a triple, and a single, all available as single occupancy). If sleeping in a dorm you’ll need to bring your own bedding (duvet/sleeping bags, pillows and bedsheets are provided).
Activities All activities are optional. Just being amongst other songwriters may be enough to get your juices flowing and you may just want to scurry off and write, returning later to triumphantly burp your new baby, leaving you flushed and radiant, albeit with some milky sick on your shoulder. If you need inspiration or guidance, there are structured discussions and exercises. But, as any songwriting workshop veteran will tell you, whether in informal discussions, epic co-writing sessions, or coffee-fuelled song-circles (peer-critique sessions), the real draw at a songwriting workshop is the other people, who will welcome you, value your input, re-direct you, lift you up and spur you on, competing and co-operating in equal measure.
Bursaries In keeping with our belief that good participants and cultural exchange enrich everyones experience, we offer bursaries (1 for every five songwriters booked at full price, details at link above)

A great new venue in the heart of Northamptonshire and a bursary scheme to help talented songwriters are just two reasons to join us from 31st May-4 June for four days’ co-writing, talks, exercises, and socialising with other like-minded songwriters.
